Description
The Secretary of State gives two clandestine assignments to the new acting ambassador to Brazil-Eric Sanders. Before Sanders can tackle his secret assignments, he must clean up the mess in the U.S. consular office in Manaus.
Unfortunately, the U.S. consular office in Manaus is a “bungle in the jungle.” This office is at a strategiclocation for dealing with conservation efforts and tourism in Amazonia and is slated to be upgraded into a consulate. But there’s a problem. The staff members in the office are disorganized and/or involved in a variety of illegal activities, including exporting cultural artifacts and drug smuggling.
In desperation, Sanders recruits Sara Almquist, a scientist who happens to be his girlfriend, to help him investigate the situation in Manaus. She arrives under the guise that she is the U.S. representative to a conference sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) on “Vector Control of Tropical Disease” being held in Manaus.
During five hectic days, Sanders and Sara risk their relationship and lives as they try to unravel the secrets in the “bungle in the jungle.”
